In an incredibly tight rental market, it seems like a bargain.
A bedroom in Surfers Paradise has been advertised for just $180 a week.
But there’s a catch.
The successful applicant would be expected to share the room with an artist during daylight hours.
“The room is to be a shared space during the day. Between 10am-5pm Monday to Friday,” the advertisement reads.
“Suits someone who doesn’t need to use the bed in the room during the day during the weekdays. From 10am until 5pm the bed gets folded away and then is able to be used as a sofa to sit so we have more space.”
Bemused locals took to social media to express their surprise over the unusual rental arrangement.
“I know we are in a rental crisis but this situation is just taking advantage of desperate people,” one person said.
Two other rooms at the property are also listed for rent. They are priced at $270 per week with no car parks.
However there is no requirement for either of those rooms to be shared with a budding Da Vinci during daylight hours.
