Girl forced to ‘re-do’ rape scenes for fake AFP officer, Toowoomba court hears

A depraved man’s elaborate web of fake identities and a fabricated court order led his own partner to help him orchestrate the years-long abuse and drugging of her daughter, in a case so twisted it defies belief.

A depraved and mentally ill man who “tricked” his partner into organising the rape and drugging of her daughter under the guise of a fake court order has been jailed.

The Darling Downs man cannot be named to protect the identity of the now young woman.

The Toowoomba District Court heard the man created a number of fake online identities, in chief being an Australian Federal Police officer who needed child exploitation material to catch pedophiles online.

The girl was 14 years old when the sexual abuse began, and it ended when she was 17.

Police uncovered 869 photos and five videos of the girl, some of which showed the man raping the girl with objects while she cried.

In November, the Darling Downs man pleaded guilty to maintaining a sexual relationship with a child under 16, indecent treatment of a child under 16, multiple anal rapes, and making child exploitation material.

The crimes were charged as domestic violence offences.

The court heard the man, aged in his 40s, doctored a false court order, which was a community-based order requiring the girl to do more than 400 hours of community service.

Depending on what act the child performed on camera, the hours would be dropped, and if she didn’t comply, she thought she would be sentenced to juvenile detention.

The court heard the teenager protested against the ‘court order,’ and cried throughout the horrific ordeals, which she was forced to ‘re-do’ the act on camera if the ‘AFP officer’ said the photos or videos weren’t good enough.

The other fake online identities the man created included a lawyer, a therapist, and another AFP officer.

He used those accounts to talk to his partner, whom he had organised some of the abuse, which included drugging the girl with a stupefying substance.

In December 2024, the girl’s mother was released from prison after spending two years and four months on remand.

When the mother was sentenced before Toowoomba District Court in 2024 the court was told she believed an Australian Federal Police officer issued her child with a court order requiring her to create and submit child exploitation material to catch pedophiles online.

She pleaded guilty to a number of charges, which included repeated sexual conduct with a child, creating child exploitation material, using a drug to stupefy her child, rape, and possessing child exploitation material.

The woman was handed a five-year suspended sentence with immediate release, after being dealt with on the basis that her partner tricked her into committing the crimes.

Barrister Daniel Boddice, represented by McConnell & Saldumbide Criminal Lawyers, largely relied on his written submissions during the proceeding and did not read the man’s antecedents into the public record.

Judge John Allen KC told the Toowoomba man his crimes were a gross breach of trust, aggravated by the incredibly elaborate fiction he created to manipulate the child and her mother.

Judge Allen said it was ironic that the man created the fake order as a punishment after the girl allegedly hacked his Facebook account and posted to the wall that he was a pedophile.

He noted the man’s lawyers said the man’s time in custody had been onerous, as he was diagnosed with renal failure, and while in the community, he was on the disability pension for his depression and anxiety.

Judge Allen declared the man had committed a serious sexual offence, which meant he was required to serve at least 80 per cent of a 12-year head sentence before being eligible to apply for parole.

The 1205 days he spent in custody were declared time served.

The court heard police found no evidence to suggest the man distributed the child exploitation material he produced.
