The unique and wonderful world of fossicking and lapidary was displayed in all its glory, drawing flocks of visitors across the two day event.

Gemfest brought an array of bright, sparkly and unique objects to its 43rd event held at Centenary Heights State High School.

Collectors also had the opportunity to have their fossicking treasures identified by a member of the Toowoomba Lapidary Club

For a local mother and daughter, the annual event has become somewhat of a tradition.

Nala Splettstoesser’s fascination with gems and sparkles united a yearly tradition with her mother May and saw her make the two hour journey from the Gold Coast just to attend the event.

Ms Splettstoesser said the event’s display of hard to find items made it such a crowd favourite.
