Geelong continues to pick up the pieces after a major storm ripped through the region on Sunday night.
Hundreds of trees fell while lightning lit up the sky and wind wreaked havoc as multiple storm fronts caused widespread damage.
The impact was still obvious on Pakington St in Geelong West on Tuesday.
The Little Pakington shopping area near the Wellington St intersection, where a huge tree came down due to devastating winds, was quiet as almost all street-facing shopfronts closed.
Access to the area on Monday was essentially non-existent as repair was carried out.
A shop attendant said on Tuesday that even with the street access returning, business was hindered.
More shops are expected to reopen on Wednesday.
Nearby, West Park a mess, with a number of branches down.
Some large branches also fell at Balyang Sanctuary, where a new water feature had been left behind in the car park.
Debris was strewn along the banks of the Barwon River.
Parts of Belmont were in worse shape, including Mt Pleasant Rd which was lined with branches brought out for green waste collection, despite council asking people not to do so.
Dee Dove, who lives on the busy thoroughfare, had a tree come down during the storm, flattening her front fence.
Sheltering inside with her partner, Ms Dove said she was more worried about her backyard pool.
“I heard this massive crash,” Ms Dove said.
“I came rushing to the front and we saw the tree had already landed in our front garden, it was just the wind.”
Ms Dove said she didn’t know when the fence would be fixed.
“We’re not a priority, and that’s fine with us,” she said.
“People have lost tiles off their roofs, they’ve got caving in, so we’re just extremely lucky.”
She said the scene on Sunday night was chaotic, with the power and water out for most of the night.
Her neighbour remained without power on Tuesday.
Ms Dove lauded the efforts of the SES, who spent all of Monday morning removing most of the tree from her front yard.
The SES received about 600 requests for assistance as almost 300 trees fell and more than 200 buildings were damaged.
