Ausnet expects works to start soon to replace six collapsed transmission towers in Anakie.
An Ausnet spokeswoman said the transmission towers, on Carrs Rd, collapsed during a severe weather event in February.
“There was an impact to the transmission network as a result of this event,” she said.
“Temporary towers were energised in March.
“Work is expected to start in the next few months to replace the permanent towers.”
The high-voltage towers collapsing led to AGL’s Loy Yang Power station in Traralgon disconnecting from the grid and the Australian Energy Market Operator enacted load shedding, where electricity was reduced to homes and businesses to protect the network from further damage and outages.
An Energy Safe Victoria spokesperson said the organisation was investigating the collapse of transmission towers.
“That investigation is continuing,” the spokesperson said.
“As the state’s energy safety regulator, Energy Safe Victoria investigates major incidents in relation to the safe operation of energy installations and the safety of energy infrastructure and pipelines during their commissioning, operation, and decommissioning.”
