A cut-price liquor chain with a “party starts at the door” attitude has unveiled plans to open its latest storefront on the Bellarine Peninsula.
The Premix King has lodged a planning application with the City of Greater Geelong to open a new bottle shop on Murradoc Rd in Drysdale.
The company, which describes itself as “the home of the alcopop” and has stores throughout Victoria, is aiming to take over a 160sq m floor space store fronting Murradoc Rd in the established commercial area.
The new bottle shop plans to be open until 11pm daily.
Planning documents argue the new venue is expected to have no negative impacts on the surrounding community.
“It is submitted that the mix of uses within the subject area may help to mitigate potential harm and reduce the potential for the proposed liquor licence having an unreasonable negative impact on the amenity of the surrounding area,” the documents noted.
“It is submitted that the in-house impact mitigation measures, coupled with enforcement of council’s local laws and other legislative controls will ensure that the impacts of the proposed venue on the surrounding community are reasonable and are in balance with the positive economic, employment and vitality impacts of the development.”
The Premix King company describes itself as “known for our party starts at the door attitude” and “regarded as the destination for premix drinks in regional Victoria”.
The planning application will remain open for public comment until May 22, after which the city is expected to make a decision on the proposal.
