A sedan has been badly damaged after it collided with a bollard and became wedged in Market Square’s carpark on Wednesday afternoon.
Emergency services were called to the shopping centre about 2pm after reports of a traffic incident.
Photos from the scene show a red Holden sedan parked near the carpark’s boom gates at the top of the Yarra St entry ramp.
It appears the car may have tried to exit via the entrance lane and was wedged against a barrier.
The right side of the vehicle had been badly damaged.
Police, paramedics and fire crews attended the scene and the carpark’s entrance was closed to traffic.
Crews could be seen using a hydraulic rescue tool – known as the jaws of life – in the operation and a tow truck was parked on the ramp.
An FRV spokesman said a car had collided with a bollard in the carpark.
“The driver was out of the vehicle and was being assessed by (paramedics),” the spokesman said.
Ambulance Victoria confirmed no patients required treatment.
