A man who was found deceased in Ocean Grove on Wednesday has been identified.
Police said a 59-year-old Point Lonsdale man was found dead on Surf Beach Rd, near the town’s main beach.
It’s believed a passer-by made the grim discovery just after 9am and the man may have suffered a medical episode inside his car.
Officers were seen looking through a silver Ford 4WD at the scene.
A resident who lives nearby said she “couldn’t believe what had happened”.
“I saw an ambulance and heard sirens,” she said.
A woman who works in the area said she was “shocked” to see so many police and SES volunteers near the beach.
“It’s horrible for his family,” she said.
“I’m surprised the police didn’t close off more of the road.”
A Victoria Police spokeswoman said the man’s death was not being treated as suspicious and a report would be prepared for the coroner.
