According to ASIC documents, a liquidator was appointed to Golden Dragon Yum Cha in late June.

Bryan Mu, co-owner of the traditional Chinese eatery, said years of successive Covid-19 lockdowns had hit trade hard, and parking along the busy strip had proven difficult.

“Once again, we extend our heartfelt appreciation to all our customers, staff members, and community for your incredible support and patronage throughout the years,” a social media post on the restaurant’s page said.

“We will always remember the laughter, the shared moments, and the joy of serving you.”

But Mr Mu had other exciting plans for the central CBD space.

“We want people to stay tuned,” he said.

The team behind the restaurant, located at the corner of Moorabool and Ryrie streets, announced the decision to close on social media “with a heavy heart”.

“It has been an incredible journey serving our esteemed patrons and being part of your dining experiences,” the restaurant’s post read.

“While this was not an easy choice, we believe it is the right one for the long-term sustainability of our business.”

Well-wishers and loyal customers crowded the comments of the announcement to wish the team well.

“Oh this is sad, always consistently nice food served. Sorry for the tough time you have been through,” one person wrote.

Others thanked the team for the “delicious food over the years” and service.

“Had so many wonderful meals here with great family memories,” another person wrote.

“All the best for the future and thank you for the delicious food.”
