Free coffee from new Honeybird cafe in North Geelong

A popular cafe and roastery has opened in Geelong for the first time, and is celebrating by giving out free coffees.

A new cafe and roastery has opened in North Geelong and it is celebrating with a week of free coffee.

Honeybird Coffee opened its doors on Monday at 2/9 Shepherd Court, off Separation St near Cotton On’s headquarters.

The cafe and wholesale outlet is an extension of their Mount Beauty roastery, which already supplies more than 100 venues nationwide, including cafes at Falls Creek and Mount Hotham.

Honeybird Coffee general manager Sarah Gajic said to celebrate its opening, coffees would be free from 8am until 1pm Monday to Friday this week.

“We’re the old new kids on the block,” she said.

“We’re new to Geelong, but we’ve been a roastery for 15 years.”

Ms Gajic said their coffee was roasted in Mount Beauty, with plans to begin roasting in Geelong.

She said they were already supplying local cafes Where You Meet in the Geelong Botanic Gardens and ANJU on Pakington St.

Ms Gajic said following the week of celebratory freebies, Honeybird would be selling its speciality coffees at $3 dollars for a small, $4 for a medium and $5 for a large.

She said as a wholesaler it was able to keep costs low.

Also on the menu are assorted pastries from Rustica in Melbourne and raclette rolls — a type of grilled baguette with cheese, kimchi and prosciutto.
