Pickleball fanatics can now play the sport in all weather, with a new indoor court opening in Grovedale.
The sport – described as a cross between tennis, badminton and table tennis – has surged in popularity since it was introduced in Australia in 2015.
Daryl Wyatt and Brooke Chiller, both passionate pickleball players, decided to take their love for the game to the next level by opening Dinx Pickleball at 190 Torquay Rd.
The site had housed Hoops City, an indoor basketball centre, before it closed at the end of 2024.
Mr Wyatt and Ms Chiller said pickleball was the fastest growing sport worldwide.
“We offer classes, lessons, open play, leagues, competitions, tournaments, court hire, special events, kids and teenage classes,” they said in a statement.
“We decided to open a club to bring a purpose built club to the surf coast/Geelong area.
“We are passionate about pickleball for many reason but a big one is that we find it an achievable, entry level sport that can be played by anyone.
“Whether you’ve played a sport or not pickleball can be learned quite quickly.
They said all levels and ages could play together.
“It's a great family sport.
The facility includes locker rooms and showers and a dining room for corporate events or parties.
A cafe and bar are expected open soon.
