Victorian health authorities to determine 80 per cent vaccination roadmap

Covid has struck a Belmont aged care home.

It’s understood a resident of The Belmont aged care facility has been hospitalised with Covid.

And a federal government report released on Friday about outbreaks in aged care said a staff member had the virus.

The facility is operated by TLC Healthcare.

On Saturday morning, the provider’s website claimed: “TLC Healthcare’s locations are currently, and have always been, COVID-19 free.”

Later on Saturday, following questions from the Addy, the “and have always been” was removed.

When the Geelong Advertiser contacted TLC asking about Covid at The Belmont earlier this week, it declined to comment on privacy grounds.

The provider on Saturday said there is no person currently residing or working in any TLC Aged Care home that has Covid-19.

On Thursday, Barwon Health confirmed a resident from TLC aged care was being treated at Geelong hospital.

Barwon South West public health unit director Prof Eugene Athan said all hospital staff followed safe COVID-19 practice guidelines.

TLC operates aged care facilities across Geelong and Melbourne.

The aged care provider has mandated rapid antigen tests for visitors, staff members and contractors who enter their homes.

The rapid antigen testing program was introduced in September.
