A fast-growing online conveyancing firm is eyeing off Geelong as home to its first regional office as the city’s rapid growth presents significant opportunities.
The region’s population is set to soar to approximately 500,000 in the next 25 years, with 128,600 new homes planned to meet that boom.
All the new homes that are bought and sold will need conveyancing and Sam Almaliki, the man behind Settle Easy, is excited about this opportunity.
He said the company intends to open its first regional office in Geelong.
“There’s more homes being built,” Mr Almaliki said.
“There’s great opportunity to support more people living in Geelong, whether they’re buying of selling.
“Hopefully there’ll be more investment in the region and more reason for people to call Geelong home where they can work, live and play.”
Mr Almaliki pitches Settle Easy as a transformational online conveyancing company, using a user-friendly and automated platform to improve the customer experience.
Conveyancing is the process of transferring property ownership, involving contract preparation, researching the property, and co-ordinating the settlement.
Mr Almaliki said Settle Easy offers a “high touch, high tech” service, where customers have access to their lawyers and conveyancers and “a cutting edge tech platform” throughout the process.
“We believe property will always be a personal transaction, and it’s about having the right professionals supporting property buyers and sellers throughout the entire experience,” he said.
It is a “safe, secure and speedy” service, he said, which helps customers “whether they’re buying or selling for the first or fifth time”.
The company is not new to Geelong, however, having been based out of Runway, a start-up accelerator in North Geelong, during its inception.
Two of the company’s co-founders – Nick Stanley and Simon Quirk – are Geelong-based.
Many early investors and shareholders came through the Geelong Angel Investor Network, now known as the Regional Angel Investor Network.
Mr Almaliki described Settle Easy as a Geelong success story with the capital, connections and counsel paving the pathway for its national growth.
“Geelong was part of our foundation and Geelong will be part of our future,” Mr Almaliki said.
“There is so much that the region offers to businesses like ours, and we do look forward to our first regional office, in the future, being based in Geelong.”
