A 12 year old boy has been rescued after falling 30 metres down a river embankment in Highton during a biking accident.

A Country Fire Australia (CFA) spokesman said it was believed the boy was riding near the embankment, trying some jumps, when he came off his bike and fell down towards the Barwon River.

“Fire Rescue Victoria and CFA crews used rope lines to drop him down to a walking track below and put him in the hands of paramedics,” the spokesman said.

An Ambulence Victoria spokeswoman said paramedics were called to the incident around 1:30pm on Saturday.

“One patient with upper body injuries was transported by road ambulance to University Hospital Geelong,” she said.

More to come.
