Grief-stricken friends, family and artists will come together on Thursday night to celebrate the life of a “beautiful soul” and “prolific talent” after her tragic passing at just 26.

The Geelong creative community is coming to grips with the sudden death of Darci Dillon on May 12, with her loss being described as “beyond devastating”.

A “Dig Deep and Dance for Darci Dillon” event, featuring a massive line-up of her favourite musicians and poets, has been organised at the Barwon Club to help raise funds to assist her heartbroken family with funerals costs as they deal with “paralysing grief”.

Close friend and organiser Nikita Reick said Ms Dillon was a central point of the creative community and “brought so many people together.”

“She was a prolific creative and an amazing poet,” she said.

Darci Dillon will be remembered at a special fundraiser on Thursday night at the Barwon Club.

“There are no words, it is beyond devastating.

“She loved so deeply and so fiercely and she attracted people who loved in the same manner.

“Everyone is just wrapping their arms around each other, it’s so incredibly sad.”

Ms Dillon was a highly respected poet who published her first work as a teenager.

One of her most loved bands, Cry Baby, will reform inside the Barwon Club band room for the charity event on Thursday night.

Ms Reick said it was a way for all who knew her to honour and remember her.

“Everyone is donating their time and effort and resources to make it happen,” she said.

“People were like a magnet to her and she had a way of bringing people together, and she is doing it again.

“It is so beautiful.”

Tickets for the fundraiser - featuring Lowercase Poetry, Final Final, Wild Gloriosa, Cry Baby and Emilia Fol - can be purchased at www.barwonclub.com.au/whats-on/ .
