A medical clinic in Bannockburn has been forced to temporarily shut its doors after a fire that police are treating as suspicious.
Firefighters were called about 1am on Sunday to battle a blaze that broke out at the Golden Plains Medical Centre.
The fire was brought under control but the Geelong Rd clinic sustained damage that has caused it to close.
In a Facebook post, the practice said patients were likely to face lengthy delays as it worked towards reopening.
“Please note, due to a suspicious fire (that) happened last night, Medical centre is closed for face-to-face consultations until further notice,” it said.
“Full police investigation is underway. We are trying our best to start operation with safest possible way.
“There will be a significant delays ahead to cater everyone. We are very sorry for the inconvenience caused.”
A Victoria Police spokesman confirmed Moorabool crime investigation unit was investigating the blaze.
“At this stage the fire is being treated as suspicious and the investigation is ongoing,” the spokesman said.
