Geelong young gun Ollie Dempsey signs four-year contract extension

Geelong fans will be hoping a young gun can add to his already impressive “highlight reel” after signing a new deal with the club.

Geelong young gun Ollie Dempsey will be at Kardinia Park until at least the end of 2029 after signing a four-year contract extension.

The 2024 Rising Star winner was picked up in the rookie draft three years prior and has gone on to be one of the game’s most exciting wingers and a Geelong mainstay.

Dempsey was the first Cat to win the honour since Joel Selwood in 2007.

The 22-year-old returned to football after playing basketball as a teenager, thrilling fans with his high flying marks, aerobic ability and ability to make something out of nothing inside forward 50.

He has now picked 41 consecutive games and is the club’s second most prolific forward in 2025 with 22 goals from 15 matches, behind only Jeremy Cameron on 48.

Geelong’s executive general manager of football, Andrew Mackie, said the club was thrilled to lock in the promising Cat.

“Ollie has an infectious personality and is a much-loved member of our football program,” Mackie said.

“Already in his short career Ollie has a great highlight reel and has added a real spark on-field with his energy and hard running, and we can’t wait to see him continue grow as a person and a player over the next four years.”

Dempsey joins Tom Atkins, Mark Blicavs and Gryan Miers who have also re-signed with the Cats in recent weeks.
