Four suspects captured after dumping stolen vehicle in Kirwan

Police have captured four suspects fleeing through Townsville’s suburbs after dumping a car stolen from Innisfail. Get the latest.

Townsville police have swooped in to capture a group of car thieves who are alleged to have dumped a vehicle in Kirwan on Monday morning after stealing it from Innisfail.

Just before 8am, the POLAIR helicopter was seen by residents hovering over the Kirwan area before reports were made to Queensland Police about a vehicle being dumped in Greenwood Estate’s Cavill Ave at about 8.15am, with four suspects on the run.

Shortly after, it was confirmed that the suspects were in police custody, awaiting transport to the watch-house.

A Queensland Police spokeswoman confirmed that the vehicle was stolen from Innisfail.

She said four suspects were co-operating with investigators after being taken into custody.

She was unable to confirm their ages, gender, or where specifically the vehicle was stolen from.

The suspects are yet to be charged.
