Umbrellas were out in force across the Darling Downs and South West at the weekend, as severe storms soaked parts of the region.
In a release to the media Toowoomba mayor Geoff McDonald said council would continue to monitor the Cooby Dam water level, which began spilling on Saturday.
The weather bureau issued a forecast update for Monday with severe thunderstorms possible for parts of the Darling Downs and South East Queensland.
Active flood warnings are in place for parts of the South West including a moderate flood warning for the Weir River at Talwood and a minor warning for the Lower Condamine River at Loudon Bridge.
Heavy rainfall brought flash flooding to parts of the Goondiwindi region, with the Leichhardt Highway at Yarrill Creek flooded on Sunday.
A Bureau of Meteorology spokesman said heavy rainfall remains possible across Toowoomba and the Darling Downs in the coming days.
“The chance of heavy falls are across different parts of the Downs on any given day, and less likely to be widespread,” the spokesman said.
Temperatures across the Garden City and wider region are set to gradually rise above average by Thursday, returning to below average into the weekend, the BoM spokesman said.
