A woman has serious injuries after she was hit at speed by a motorcyclist who fled from the crash in the Gold Coast in the early hours of Sunday.

At around 12.30am, the woman – a tourist in her 20s - was hit in Parkwood while she was walking across Parklands Dr at the intersection of Olsen Avenue.

She was assisted by police and bystanders nearby before she was taken to the hospital with injuries including a suspected fractured leg.

The rider had fled from the scene travelling north toward Musgrave and Napper Rd on what is believed to be a green road bike.

Investigators are appealing for the rider who was wearing a black helmet, light coloured jacket and had a backpack to come forward at their local police station.

Police have urged witnesses and anyone else with information that may assist police with their inquiries to come forward.
