A large industrial fire lit up the night sky south of Brisbane last night after a truck set fire to a number of pallets inside a manufacturing business, while in Brisbane’s northeast, a fire crews battled a blaze that engulfed a unit.
About 3.20am, eight crews were called to fight a fire inside a manufacturing business on Motorway Crescent, Ormeau, which is believed to have started after a truck caught alight inside the business.
The truck fire is thought to have spread to a number of nearby pallets, which caused the fire to spread throughout the building.
Fire crews spent the night fighting the blaze and brought it under control about 4.45am, and at 6am were continuing to dampen down hotspots.
One person was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
The fire investigation unit will examine the case.
Elsewhere, fire crews were called to a unit complex at Margate on Brisbane’s Redcliffe Peninsula just after 5.15am, where it is understood at least one unit at the Magnolia Street complex has been engulfed in flames.
A fire and emergency services spokesman said crews had conducted a primary search of the building by 6am and believed everyone had made it to safety, but was unable to confirm how many units had been impacted.
At 6.15am, two crews were using breathing apparatus to conduct further searches and identify hotspots.
