Two teenagers are fighting for life after their car smashed into a tree at Brisbane’s south overnight.
Emergency services responded to a serious single vehicle crash in Stretton at 11pm on Saturday.
Police said a red Toyota Camry was travelling on Gowan Rd before it left the road and crashed into a tree.
The 18-year-old Crestmead driver and his 18-year-old passenger suffered life-threatening injuries and were rushed to Princess Alexandra Hospital.
A nearby resident who did not wish to be named said he heard a loud “bang” at the time of the crash.
“It felt like a massive truck,” he said.
Another resident who also wished to remain anonymous said she heard a loud sound when she had her earphones on.
“I thought it was the thunderstorm,” she said.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said one of the teens suffered face and head injuries.
Police Forensic Crash Unit urged anyone who witnessed the incident or have relevant vision to contact them.
