A forensic police investigation remains ongoing into the death of an 18-year-old delivery driver who slammed into a parked car in Brisbane’s inner-east on Sunday.
Police said the motorcycle was travelling south on Hawthorne Rd at Hawthorne about 7.40pm on March 24 when it hit the parked and unoccupied ute.
The rider, from Fortitude Valley, died at the scene.
The Courier-Mail understands the man had completed three trips from Uber Eats earlier that day, but was not on an Uber Eats trip at the time of the accident.
“We are deeply saddened to learn of this tragic accident. Our hearts go out to his family and friends during this challenging time,” a Uber Eats spokesperson said.
It’s understood Uber will make contact with the family to offer access to crisis counselling services.
A Queensland Police spokesperson said a Forensic Crash Unit investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
Fresh flowers have been laid as tribute to the delivery driver along Hawthorne Rd.
Neighbour Andrea, who was first on the scene, heard the 18-year-old’s accident.
“I was inside watching TV with my kid, I heard a bang. I came straight out, I didn’t hear a scream or breaking,” he said.
“I checked the pulse, there was nothing there. There was another lady there that saw him when I came out, and she looked at him and had her hands on her head.”
