Glass covered the intersection between Maclomson St and Hervey St after a two vehicle collision between a white Ute and a Queensland Police vehicle.

Multiple police vehicles, as well as an ambulance and fire engine responded to the crash with traffic diverted. Both lanes of Hervey St were closed near the intersection.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Service personnel inspected the police vehicle’s crushed front for damage before clearing debris from the scene.

A Queensland Ambulance Service said that three patients had been assessed, but were all in stable condition.

An eyewitness reported a disturbance on the footpath near the crash, when an older adult male began yelling at a younger male about their license.

They were reported screaming, “You’re f****** lucky you didn’t break your arm”.

A male in his teens was transported to Mackay boss hospital shortly after 4pm.

Emergency services cleared the scene before 4:10pm and Malcomson St was reopened shortly after.
