A woman has been treated for burns after a suspicious fire at a unit complex at Gaythorne, on Brisbane’s northside, in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Emergency services were called to the complex on Pickering St about 12.30am to find the building well alight.

A woman in her 40s was treated at the scene for minor burns but did not require any further medical attention.

The unit was declared a crime scene and the fire is now being investigated by authorities.

A nearby resident said they woke to the sound of sirens and discovered “lots of action” going on in the neighbourhood.

“We just saw smoke coming from the building,” they said.
