A woman has been airlifted to hospital after she was bitten on the hand by a venomous snake while she was sleeping in bed early Friday morning in the Western Downs region.
The woman, aged in her 20s, is believed to have been bitten by a mulga snake – also known as a king brown – about 1am on Friday at a private Glenmorgan property.
She was flown to Toowoomba Hospital for further treatment but is understood to be in a stable condition.
The woman’s family applied bandages to the snake bite before the local Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedic arrived.
The aeromedical crew was also tasked to the remote property.
The rescue helicopter pilot landed the chopper at a private property and the team prepared the patient to receive the anti-venom.
