Beerburrum crash: Man fighting for life after horror leg injury

A rescue helicopter has been called to a serious crash after a man was trapped, while a Sunshine Coast woman was taken to hospital after a suspected snake bite.

A man is fighting for his life in a Brisbane hospital with potentially life threatening leg injuries after a horror crash where he had to be cut free from his car.

The man was flown by helicopter to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital following the single vehicle crash on Old Gympie Road, Beerburrum, at 8.21pm, Monday night.

A rescue helicopter was called to the serious crash after the man became trapped in his car.

A QFD spokeswoman said three crews were on scene and used hydraulic equipment to remove a door from the car to get the driver out.

According to the Queensland Ambulance Service, the man had potentially life threatening leg injuries.

Earlier, a stable driver was taken to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital following a single-car-crash on the Bruce Highway, south bound, at Bridges, at 8.46pm.

A woman in her 60s was also rushed to Sunshine Coast University Hospital following a reported snake bite at a private address at Sippy Downs, at 6.44pm.

She was in a stable condition.
