Pregnant woman injured after large rock flew through car window

A pregnant woman was rushed to hospital last night after a large rock came through the car passenger window, hitting her in the face and just narrowly missing her eye.

A pregnant Bridgeman Downs woman was rushed to the emergency department Wednesday evening after a large rock came through the car passenger window, hitting her in the face and just narrowly missing her right eye.

Mitch Brennan, 27, was driving along Albany Creek Road with wife, Amy Brennan, 26, when a rock suddenly struck Mrs Brennan just below her eye at around 6.35pm on Wednesday. Both car windows were open at the time of the incident.

“Literally out of nowhere a rock hit Amy in the face then fell into the passenger foot space of my car,” Mr Brennan said.

“I had to pull over as safely as possible and contact police.”

The couple regularly drove along the road and had stopped for food at a local cafe on Wednesday night before driving home to prepare their property ahead of Cyclone Alfred’s arrival.

Fortunately, the rock narrowly missed Mrs Brennan’s eye, but the couple are still shaken from the incident.

“We spent eight hours in emergency and Amy had to get two stitches just below her eye. Millimetres from striking her eye and most likely damaging her sight,” he said.

“(We just had) our 12-week scan and announced our pregnancy within hours of this happening. Everything with the baby is okay thankfully.”

A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said police are aware of the incident.

Mr Brennan is now appealing for any witnesses to come forward with dashcam footage or any further information.
