One dead, one in hospital in separate pedestrian accidents in Brisbane, Logan

An elderly man has died in hospital after one of two pedestrian incidents in South East Queensland on Thursday.

An elderly man hit by a car south of Brisbane on Thursday has died in hospital.

The man was struck by a car on Blackwood Rd, Woodridge, at 4.30pm in front of shocked onlookers.

He was rushed to Brisbane’s Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical condition with significant head injuries, but has since died.

“The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, a 23-year-old Woodridge woman, was not physically injured,” a police statement said.

“The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the incident and appeal to anyone who witnessed the crash, or has relevant dashcam or CCTV footage, to contact police.”

The road was closed for some time while Queensland Police Service Forensic Crash Unit officers investigated.

A witness to the horror crash said she saw the victim lying on the ground.

“I was walking up the street and saw (him),” she said.

In a separate incident, Queensland ambulance said a person was taken to hospital in a serious condition after being hit by a car about 3.45pm on Thursday in Eagle St, Brisbane City.

A woman in her 50s sustained leg, arm and a potential lower leg fracture and was taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in Herston.
