A person has died and multiple others are critically injured following a horrific head-on crash in the Lockyer Valley.
The two cars collided on Laidley Creek Rd in Mulgowie around 9pm on Sunday, killing one person and critically injuring at least two others.
A 30-year-old man was treated for an open skull fracture and another man, who was trapped inside one of the cars, suffered significant lower chest injuries and altered consciousness.
A woman, 49, suffered a compound fracture to her femur and another man, 39, has rib pain.
Two other people received minor injuries and are able to walk.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said two of the injured people were flown to Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane.
A third, who was in a stable condition, was transported to Ipswich Hospital.
Queensland Ambulance Service senior operations supervisor Mark Benstead said high acuity paramedics attended the crash that involved six people.
“As a result of this crash two patients were airlifted through to the Princess Alexandra Hospital (PAH) in a critical condition,” Mr Benstead said.
“One patient was taken by road to the PAH in a serious condition and another patient was taken to Ipswich general hospital in a serious but stable condition.”
With parts of southeast Queensland on flood watch, Mr Benstead urged all drivers to take care on the roads.
“At this time I just urge everyone to exercise caution on the roads in part with the wet weather conditions that have occurred over night,” he said.
