A motorcyclist has died after colliding with a bus near a Logan school on Thursday.

The accident happened on Polaris Ave, Kingston, near Groves Christian College about 3pm.

Police investigations suggest a motorcycle was travelling south on Polaris Ave when it collided with a bus at the intersection with Laughlin St.

The rider, a 28-year-old Kingston man, was rushed to Princess Alexandra Hospital but died a short time later.

The driver of the bus was not physically injured.

Witnesses described a confronting scene, with many students seeing the crash and the aftermath during school pick-up.

Tara-louise Snookes said her daughter saw the rider before hearing the collision.

“My daughter saw him ride past her and then heard the noise of the collision, she saw his bone sticking out of his leg. Thankfully no kids were hurt,” she said.

It is understood that the male was riding a dirt bike and that the bus involved was picking up students from Groves Christian College.

Tara Gibson said her daughter was on the bus when the motorbike collided with it.

“My 10-year-old daughter was on the bus. Front seat. Saw it all. Very sad and traumatising for all,” she said.

Tash Jade said she called for paramedics and arranged for a stranger to divert traffic.

“I rang for paramedics, I was one of the first callers, and after I said to paramedics no one is diverting traffic they said get a random to divert traffic so I yelled out and got someone to divert traffic,” she said.

Police urge anyone with further information or relevant footage to contact Policelink on 131 444.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
