Motorcyclist killed in crash with car at Gatton

A man has died after the motorbike he was riding crashed into a car head-on west of Brisbane.

A motorcyclist was in a critical condition but died at the scene.

A 34-year-old man has died after the motorbike he was riding crashed into a car head-on near the Warrego Highway, west of Brisbane, Saturday afternoon.

The incident occurred about 4.55pm, in the eastbound lanes with emergency services arriving on scene shortly after.

Paramedics treated the man, from Wilstonton, for serious head and chest injuries but he died at the scene.

Police said initial information indicated the man’s Yamaha Yzf-R1 motorbike was travelling west along Eastern Drive before it lost control and crashed with a white Toyota Corolla travelling in the opposite direction.

The occupants of the Toyota, a 34-year-old male driver and a 33-year-old female passenger, were not physically hurt.

The Warrego Highway Eastern Drive overpass was been closed for several hours as a result of the crash.

Police have appealed for witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage to come forward.
