A man is being assessed for life-threatening injuries after his vehicle crashed into a Moreton Bay canal on Thursday morning.
Emergency services arrived to the scene at Klinger's Road, Kippa Ring, at 10.40am, to find the man had freed himself from his car.
A Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman said he was transported to Redcliffe Hospital but was unable to confirm his injuries.
QPS chief superintendent Adam Guild said the car crashed into a canal near Kayo Stadium about 10:40 on Thursday morning.
“Three police officers from Redcliffe Station had to jump into that canal, rescue that male person and perform CPR,” he said.
“That vehicle was submerged and a single male occupant in that vehicle was trapped.”
Superintendent Guild praised the “heroic efforts” of the responding officers but said the man was in a critical condition in hospital.
Police remained at the scene to investigate the incident.
