“A crime scene has been established at the address while police investigations continue.”
A spokeswoman from the Princess Alexandra Hospital on Thursday morning said the man was in a “critical but stable condition in ICU”.
After the shooting, chaos erupted on the streets.
Footage shot by witnesses also shows police handcuffing a man who wouldn’t leave while he was working at a barber shop.
Yousef Zakariya said he was inside A To Z Barbers when he heard what sounded like three gunshots.
“We were at the shop and we heard gun shots and we went to check it out and a police officer had a gun in their hand and shot the man,” he said.
“After all that happened they started pushing us away. Police came into our shop.”
Mr Zakariya said police took them to the end of the street. Police declared a crime scene and closed most the street between Croydon and Blackwood roads.
“They shot him about three times. We didn’t hear any commotion beforehand,” he said.
Logan Central Childcare is on the street where the shooting occurred and parents were called to collect their kids.
One parent said they were “freaked out” when they found out what happened. He said he came to pick up his two children immediately once he got the call.
“It’s very worrying,” he said.
“My kids were nearby.”
Another parent said the childcare centre called them to come and pick up their kids because it was very serious.
“I was terrified,” she said.
“I sort of calmed down once they said the children were OK but I didn’t imagine there would be so many police cars.”
Don from Logan, who would not give his last name, said he was terrified when he heard what sounded like three or four shots.
“I was down the road with my mate when I heard a couple shots,” he said.
“Cops wouldn’t let us into the premises. I was pretty frightened by the sound of it. I tried to come in.
“All my mates were around the corner.”
