Man on 55 charges after alleged property offences across Moreton Bay, Sunshine Coast

A man accused of going on a property crime spree across Brisbane’s north and the Sunshine Coast has been hit with 55 charges following his arrest in Moreton Bay

A man accused of a property crime spree across Brisbane’s north and the Sunshine Coast has been hit with 55 charges following his arrest in a Moreton Bay suburb.

Police allege the 34-year-old Urangan man was behind a string of vehicle and business thefts, fraud and break-ins between mid-April and May, spanning suburbs including North Lakes, Burpengary, Caboolture, Caloundra West, Redcliffe, Bald Hills, Strathpine and Lawnton.

The man was arrested on May 19 after he was found at a service station near Deception Bay Rd. He initially ran from officers on foot but was taken into custody a short time later, police allege.

The 34-year-old Urangan man has been charged with 53 offences, including twelve counts of enter premises and commit indictable offence, nine counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, five counts each of fraud, receiving tainted goods, and several other offences.

He was charged with two more offences after police searched a Burpengary East home on May 21, allegedly finding and seizing several drug items, and allegedly stolen e-bikes, jewellery and clothing linked to previous property offences.

The man has been remanded in custody and is due to appear in Caboolture Magistrates Court on May 30.

Two other people were arrested as a result of the search and have been charged.

A 35-year-old Burpengary East woman has been charged with two counts of possessing dangerous drugs, and one count each of receiving tainted property and offence to possess medicines.

She is due to appear in Caboolture Magistrates Court on June 12.

A 42-year-old Burpengary East man has been charged with one count of receiving tainted property.

He is due to appear in Caboolture Magistrates Court on May 26.

Investigators believe there may be outstanding unreported offences and urge anyone who has experienced property theft or a break in to contact police.

Investigations are ongoing.
