A man has been taken to hospital in a critical condition following a single-vehicle crash at Chermside in Brisbane’s north on Wednesday afternoon.
Police said it appeared that about 2pm, a Ford Territory was travelling along Hodgkinson St when it left the road and crashed into a tree.
The 19-year-old driver and sole occupant, of Deagon, had to be cut free and was transported to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a critical condition.
A resident on Hodgkinson St who witnessed the crash said he called emergency services and watched on as paramedics took 30 minutes to extract the driver.
“We all heard it, it was just this insanely loud screech and then a bang, all the neighbours called cops’” he said
“He went into the tree and they took about half an hour to get him out, he was in there pretty good.”
Any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage were urged to contact Policelink on 131 444.
