A man has died after being crushed by a crane at a swimming pool business on the northern Gold Coast.
The man, believed to be in his 40s, was run over at the Narellan Pools business at Stapylton around 12.30pm.
Emergency services rushed to the scene but, despite the frantic efforts of paramedics and first responders, the man died.
Queensland Ambulance Service senior operations supervisor Chris Perera said the man suffered critical “crush injuries” and could not be saved.
“The heavy-duty appliance (crane) has made contact with this patient, subsequently causing crush injuries which were life-threatening and critical,” he said.
Mr Perera said QAS staff including a High Acuity Response Unit team with a doctor performed CPR but the man tragically died at the scene.
Worksafe Queensland is investigating.
