Man critical after Bribie Island post-immersion incident

A man in his 50s has been flown to hospital in a critical condition following a near-drowning incident in Bribie Island’s north.

A man in his 50s has been flown to hospital in a critical condition following a post-immersion incident in Bribie Island’s north on Friday afternoon.

The incident was reported near Ocean Beach Access Track at 2:14pm, after the man was pulled out of the water after being submerged for some time.

It is understood the man is conscious and breathing but has sustained spinal injuries.

The man has been flown to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

A Queensland Ambulance Services spokeswoman confirmed there were no other patients at the scene.
