There were delays up to two hours on the M1 north of Brisbane after a three-car crash left a man trapped in his overturned vehicle Tuesday evening.

The three-car crash happened on the Bruce Highway just south of Dohles Rocks Rd at Griffin just before 5.30pm.

Police initially closed all three southbound lanes before managing to open one to traffic about 5.50pm. At 6.45pm delays were reported to be over two hours and increasing but had cleared by 8pm.

Queensland Ambulance Service said multiple paramedics were on the scene as one man was encapsulated in his vehicle after it and its trailer had rolled.

They said he was being transported to hospital while another was being treated at the scene before also being transported.

Paramedics said both patients were stable but injured.
