A man has been left homeless after a blaze destroyed his home in the Moreton Bay suburb of Lawnton.
Firefighters were called out to the fire, which engulfed one unit and threatened neighbouring properties, at West Dianne Street at 5.59am.
Neighbours said they were woken up by the smell of the fire, the sound of crackling and the roof of the brick unit caving in.
Acting Inspector of Petrie Fire Station, John Bastion, said it took 20 minutes for 16 firefighters to control the fire.
He also said a fire separation wall stopped the fire spreading next door.
“The home was completely involved when fire crews arrived,” Mr Bastion said.
“(There is) 100 per cent damage to the property and its contents.”
One neighbour said they called triple-0 before heading to the scene and alerting other neighbours.
Paramedics treated the man but he declined transport to hospital.
Meanwhile, two fire crews are also working to put out a caravan fire on Albert Street, Beaudesert, after they were called about 5.40am.
Paramedics are on scene, treating two patients who appear to be in a stable condition.
