A 77-year-old man has died he was found on the side of the Gold Coast Highway following an alleged hit and run early Tuesday morning.

An elderly man found unconscious beside the Gold Coast Highway on Tuesday has died in hospital.
The 77-year-old was found by a passer-by in an area next to the highway at Miami about 3.30am.
He was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital with critical injuries but died overnight.
Police on Tuesday located a 34-year-old Southport man who they believe could assist them with their inquiries.
A car was also seized by police at Burleigh Heads.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating and continues to appeal for any witnesses or dashcam in the area.
Police investigations are ongoing.
