Multiple crews are battling a large bushfire west of Toowoomba, with three homes evacuated on Friday afternoon.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services issued a ‘prepare to leave’ warning for properties between Thyme Avenue, the Gore Highway and Rosemary Court at Forest Ridge about 4pm.
“Conditions could get worse quickly,” the warning said.
Firefighters were on Friday night working to control the blaze. Locals were warned to expect worsening air quality, poor driving conditions and embers overnight.
Both ambulance and police were on standby on the scene.
It comes after unseasonable bushfires tore through the Western Downs in February, destroying around 4000ha of land.
