Firefighters are fighting a suspicious fire on a grassland west of Brisbane on Friday morning which was believed to be deliberately lit.
Queensland Fire Department responded to a vegetation fire at 8.20am which spreads across multiple spots along 800m on Duncan St near Old Ipswich Rd in Riverview, Ipswich.
Temperatures in Ipswich are expected to soar to maximums of 38C today prompting serious health concerns of the extreme heatwave.
Four fire crews were on scene, with one on the way, fighting to bring the fire under control and protecting nearby structures.
A Queensland Fire Department spokesman said the fire did not pose immediate threats to nearby residents.
Police were investigating after multiple fires were deliberately lit in the Riverview area this morning.
“No one was physically injured, and no property was damaged,” a spokeswoman said.
“Nearby residents are urged to remain indoors and close their windows.”
Investigations were continuing.
