A house has been engulfed in flames causing the roof to collapse south of Brisbane this morning.
Emergency services were called to a reported structure fire at Glastonbury Dr, Bethania at 4.20am.
On arrival, crews found large volumes of smoke and a house well engulfed by fire.
A Queensland Fire and Emergency Service spokeswoman said crews were still working to extinguish the fire at 6am.
Beenleigh Fire Station officer Russell Von Nida said 23 fire crew attended the home at 4.30am.
“The whole house is completely destroyed but nobody was home,” Mr Von Nida said.
“The roof had collapsed in and we were wary the walls could fall in, which is dangerous for firefighters.
“We isolated the power to make it safe,” he said.
Mr Von Nida said the house was an asbestos risk as it an old lowset brick property.
“We are investigating but no one has come forward with any information as yet,” Mr Von Nida said.
The QFES spokeswoman said the house was well involved by the time crews arrived.
“Crews are just dampening down at the moment,” she said.
Paramedics and police were also at the scene.
