Seventy-seven passengers were on board a plane which caught fire at the Moranbah Airport on Wednesday night.
About 6.20pm, emergency services were called to the airport after initial reports a plane on the tarmac was alight.
A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokesman confirmed the fire was out upon arrival, but it was suspected to have started from a fuel leak onto the exhaust.
“We monitored inside the plane and left it in the hands with the Australian Transport Safety Bureau,” the spokesman said.
The QFES Spokesman said everyone was able to remove themselves from the plane to safety.
Passenger Ken Nobby Norbury said posted on Facebook that the plane started to emit smoke from one of the engines.
“So we finish the week away at work with a bit of drama,” he wrote.
The Australian Transport Safety Bureau confirmed it was investigating the fire and gathering further information.
No passengers were injured or required transport after the incident.
