E-scooter rider critically injured, major road closed in horror crash

A man is fighting for life after a serious crash between a car and an e-scooter shut both lanes of a major road in the Moreton Bay region on Friday night.

Emergency services have rushed to the scene of a serious crash at Lawnton between an e-scooter and a car.

Queensland Police Service were called to the accident on Gympie Rd just before 8pm on Friday night following multiple reports of a major collision.

Paramedics treated the male scooter rider at the scene before transporting him in a critical condition.

QPS have closed Gympie Rd in both directions and motorists are urged to avoid the area or expect long delays.

Witness Janelle Windham said she thought a car ran up the back of another car at first.

“They all stopped and got out but then when one of the cars moved I could see someone on the road,” she said.

“They put blankets up and brought out a spinal board.”
