Eleven people were evacuated from a commercial building and one of them was taken to hospital due to a strong chemical smell in Brisbane’s north.

Eleven people were evacuated from a commercial building and one of them was taken to hospital due to a strong chemical smell in Brisbane’s north.

Five Queensland Fire and Emergency Services were called to a building on Johnstone Rd about 7.20pm after reports of a chemical smell.

The building was evacuated a short time later and a headcount was conducted before scientific crews investigated the source of the odour.

Ambulance crews are on the scene and a patient with minor inhalation was taken to the hospital in a stable condition.

It is not yet known where the smell was coming from and investigations are continuing.
