Deception Bay man charged with two attempted robberies

A man has been charged in relation to two alleged attempted robberies in Deception Bay on Sunday.

A man has been charged over two alleged attempted robberies in Deception Bay on Sunday.

Police allege the man entered the back door of a Bailey Rd business early on Sunday, threatening a male staff member with a firearm before demanding keys to a vehicle.

The man then allegedly entered a neighbouring shop, demanding keys to a separate vehicle.

Police will allege the man struck the staff member’s head before fleeing the scene.

The same man then allegedly tried to access and ATM on Bailey Rd around 9.45pm.

In the early hours of Monday, the man allegedly drove a Hyundai Santa Fe into the front of businesses in Oxley Ave at Margate at 1.13am.

He was then tracked by Polair travelling on the Houghton Highway, Gateway and Logan motorways and the Cunningham Highway.

The 32-year-old Deception Bay man was arrested at a service station at Aratula and was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital after suffering a medical episode

He remains there under police guard. He has been charged with three counts each of attempted robbery (using/threatening violence) and enter premises with intent, two counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and one count each of endangering property by fire, attempted stealing, wilful damage, enter premises and commit indictable offence, attempted enter premises, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and stealing.

His matter is expected to be heard before Redcliffe Magistrates Court today.
