Man, 19, killed trying to overtake truck on highway at Warrill View

A 19-year-old man has died after he was involved in a head-on collision with a semitrailer southwest of Brisbane late on Monday night.

A 19-year-old man has been killed after the ute he was driving and a semitrailer collided head-on on the Cunningham Highway on Monday night.

The accident happened at Warrill View about 10.15pm.

Early investigations suggest the the young man overtook a truck in his Toyota Hilux ute, colliding with an oncoming semitrailer.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. The truck driver was not physically hurt.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating and police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the crash to come forward.

Police would particularly like to speak to the driver of the truck that was being overtaken in the moments before the crash.

The Cunningham Highway remains closed in both directions near the intersection of Bath Street, Warrill View.

Traffic diversions are in place at Warrill View Peak Crossing Road however, motorists are advised to avoid the area.
