Police are investigating a suspicious fire at an industrial facility south of Brisbane overnight. A Queensland Police spokesman said an abandoned property on Mary Street in Kingston was destroyed by fire in the early hours of Thursday morning.
He said police are now investigating the suspicious blaze.
A QFD spokeswoman said the fire was extinguished about 2.30am.
It came after crews contained a large fire in bushland at Jimboomba.
Fire crews were called to a vegetation fire near Marks Rd in Jimboomba at around 5pm on Wednesday, and the blaze was contained by 11pm.
Logan Village Rural Fire Brigade posted to social media that crews were working tirelessly to contain it.
“We are aware of the fire burning on Birnam Range. The fire is well into the bushland, and crews from Logan Village RFB and Tamborine Rural Fire Brigade are on scene,” the Facebook post said.
“We urge all residents to stay informed and follow updates.”
A “stay informed” warning was in place for residents in Tamborine, with no immediate danger.
A Queensland Fire Department spokesman said nine crews were on scene and one fire and one fire and rescue crew.
“It’s not posing a threat to any houses, but we have quite a few crews working on that fire,” a spokesman said.
“Two different fire fronts, no structure under threat. It was a grassfire that was burning in bushland in the Birnam Range.”
As of 10.30pm 10 crews were at the scene and the fire was largely contained.
